LADY JASPERS PREDICTED FOR A FIFTH PLACE FINISH IN THE MAAC PRESEASON POLL

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS NY GAZELLES 77-67 IN EXHIBITION

Riverdale, N.Y. ? The Lady Jaspers beat the NY Gazelles in an exhibition game, 77-67.  Senior Caitlin Flood had a double-double tallying 29 points and 10 boards.  Flood was 7-11 from the field and 15-16 from the free throw line.

 

Manhattan was on fire from behind the arc as they went 6-10 in the first half from three point range.  Senior guard Aubrie Dellinger hit her first three consecutive three point shots as the Lady J's went up big in the first half, 24-4.  The Lady Jaspers shot 52% from the field as they went into the locker room up 38-27 at the half.

 

In the second half, the Gazelles were not going to go quietly as they cut their deficit to within two points.  But Manhattan was not letting go, as the team's 73% free throw shooting percentage held tough and closed out the game with a final of 77-67.  Senior Gabrielle Cottrell was perfect from the three point range, going 3-3 as she totaled 17 points for the game.

 

The Lady Jaspers will open their regular season schedule on Friday, November 9 where they will travel across the bridge to take on tri-state rival Seton Hall University at 7:00 p.m.
