Buffalo, N.Y. (October 26, 2007) ? Canisius scored two second half goals to down the Manhattan College men's soccer team 2-1 on a dreary, rainy night in Buffalo.
The Jaspers took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute goal when junior striker Josh Swett chipped the ball over the head of Canisius goalkeeper Adam Catley. It was Swett's third goal of the season.
But after working hard to hold onto the lead on a very slippery field, the Jaspers gave up a tying goal six minutes into the second half when Canisius' Adam Studniarek mishit a ball that weirdly wound up at the feet of Canisius' Ally McGreal who fired a shot into the left side of the net. Then, Canisius' Simba Aberdeen tallied the winning goal for the Griffs when he latched onto a loose ball in the box and banged home a hard shot past Jasper keeper John Ciano.
Manhattan is now 2-11-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the MAAC heading into its next match in upstate New York, Sunday against Niagara University. That match at Niagara kicks off at noon. Canisius is now 5-9-9 and 4-2-0 in the MAAC.
