(January 23, 2007)- The men's basketball team looks to bounce back after having its six game win streak snapped against Siena, as the Jaspers travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on the Loyola College Greyhounds on Wednesday, January 24. The MAAC contest, to be played at Reitz Arena on the Loyola campus, is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Jaspers conclude the season series with Loyola, traveling to Baltimore, Md. to take on the Greyhounds on Wednesday, January 24, with tipoff slated for 7:00 p.m. Manhattan leads the all-time series, 28-13, and has won 15 of the last 18 meetings, though the Greyhounds posted a 77-58 win over the Jaspers on December 10 at Draddy Gym. The Jaspers have defeated Loyola in seven of the last eight meetings at Reitz Arena.
What's Next?:
Following today's game, the Jaspers return to Riverdale for a two-game homestand, beginning Saturday, January 27, as Manhattan welcomes Canisius College to Draddy Gym. The game, slated to begin at 2:00 p.m., will be aired live on RNN. Manhattan leads the all-time series, 41-28, including nine of the last 10. The Jaspers defeated the Griffs, 60-51, on January 8 in Buffalo, N.Y. Manhattan has won the last eight meetings at Draddy Gym.

Manhattan is in its 101st season of men's basketball. The Jaspers' overall record is 1199-1031 (.538), while the team has posted a 197-195 (.503) record over 25+ seasons of MAAC play. The men's basketball program was established in 1904-05 and has taken two seasons off (1943-44 and 1944-45) due to World War II. In 55 of the program's 100 seasons, including the last five seasons, the Jaspers have posted a .500 or better record.

Beginning Friday, January 12, Manhattan College Basketball Weekly will air the first of nine episodes, stretching over the 2006-07 men's basketball season. Hosted by Ed Cohen, the show will take an in-depth look at the past and present of Manhattan basketball, and will also highlight other great moments in Jasper athletic history. The show will air every Friday at 4:00 p.m. and will replay at 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays on SportNet New York.

For the ninth consecutive year, Manhattan College's men's basketball games will be broadcast live via the Internet. Even Steven In MAAC Play, And Then Some:
Following the Jaspers' MAAC win at Canisius on January 8, Manhattan evened its all-time record in MAAC games at 194-194, marking the first time since the fourth MAAC game of the first MAAC season, 1981-82, that the Jaspers have reached the break even mark in conference play. After the Jaspers downed Iona on January 12, they went above .500 in conference play for the first time in program history.
Experience Is Not Always The Key:
Manhattan's young squad is among the national leaders in fewest DI games started as well as DI games played, as the Jaspers rank 12th in games played with 185 and 14th in games started with 90. Southern Mississippi is the national leader in games played, returning 105 games played, while Wisconsin-Milwaukee is the national leader in games started, as the Panthers return just nine starts from last season. The only 2006-07 Manhattan opponent that is on the list is Boston University, which ranks eighth in games played (144) and fifth in games started (50).
