Baltimore, Md. (January 21, 2007)?Meghan Wood and Vika Sholokhova each scored 16 points and the Greyhounds shot an even 50 percent on the afternoon as Loyola defeated Manhattan 61-45. The win is Loyola's fourth in a row and improves their record to 11-7 overall and 6-2 in the MAAC. Manhattan drops to 5-14 and 2-6 in MAAC play.

The first half was tightly contested with both teams shooting the ball well. Annie McIntyre got the Lady J's off to a good start with a three-pointer on their first possession, and Manhattan shot 45 percent on the half. The Greyhounds however, shot the ball even better, shooting at a 58.3 percent clip, and led by as much as 12 points.

After Gabrielle Cottrell connected from distance to cut a five point Loyola lead to 14-12, the Greyhounds went off on a 10-2 run to increase its lead to 10 points at 24-14, with Sholokhova scoring seven points during the run.

Loyola's consistent shooting prevented Manhattan from cutting too deeply into the home side's lead, which was 35-25 at halftime. The 6-2 Sholokhova, who transfered from Pittsburgh, scored 12 first half points, and was able to take advantage of her size throughout the half, scoring twice inside, and showed her range from the outside, connecting twice from long range.

McIntyre began the second half the same way she did the first, with a three-pointer, that cut Loyola's lead to 35-28. After the teams traded baskets, Loyola began to separate themselves from the Lady Jaspers with a 9-0 run that put the home side up 16 points at 46-30.

Manhattan answered back with an 8-3 run that made their deficit 49-38 with 9:00 minutes remaining, but the Greyhounds scored 12 of the game's final 17 points to keep Manhattan from getting any closer.

Annie McIntyre scored a career high 13 points for the Lady Jaspers on 5-8 shooting, and Kelly Regan was Manhattan's other player to register double figures with 10 points.

The Lady Jaspers return to the floor Thursday at home when they welcome in Canisius to Draddy Gymnasium for a MAAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
