GAME 2 BOXSCORESyracuse, N.Y. (April 8, 2006)- In two old fashioned pitchers' duels, Manhattan and Le Moyne split a twin bill this afternoon at chilly Dick Rockwell Field.
Chris Cody twirled a complete game gem in the opener, as the Jaspers posted a 2-1 win, but T.J. Sheridan no-hit Manhattan in the nightcap in a 1-0 Dolphin win.
In the opener, after three scoreless innings, Manhattan finally broke through in the top of the fourth.
Nick Derba earned a leadoff walk, and came around to score when
Matt Rizzotti's single was mishandled by the Le Moyne centerfielder.
Mike Garcia followed with a single of his own, plating Rizzotti.
Le Moyne's only run came in the bottom of the sixth, when, with two outs, and walk was followed by a single, with the lead runner scoring when the trail runner was caught in a rundown.
Cody went all 9.0 innings, allowing just the one single in the sixth. He also tallied 10 strikeouts, while allowing just two runner to advance into scoring position.
In the night cap, the Dolphins were able to push across a run in the bottom of the seventh to gain a split in the MAAC series.
The game mirrored the first in regard to quality pitching, as Manhattan starter
Josh Santerre and Sheridan, Le Moyne's starter, combined to not allow a runner to reach second base until the bottom of the sixth. Santerre allowed just two hits over 6.0 innings.
