Baltimore, Md. (February 18, 2006)- Manhattan concluded a memorable MAAC Swimming Championships, breaking four more school records on the way to a school record 159 points and an eight place finish, the best since the MAAC expanded to 10 member schools in 1997. All told 10 new school standards were established.
Susie Mothes kicked things off with a school record breaking performance in the 1650 free, lowering the previous standard by almost a full minute, as she placed 19th with a time of 19:48.12. Finishing three spots behind Mothes was
Anne Mohan, who recorded a time of 21:16.78.
In the 100 free,
Maura McGowan put her name in the Manhattan record book, swimming a 56.33 to advance to the consolation final in school record time. She took home a 16th place finish, touching in at 56.83.
Megan O'Keefe swam in her second championship final of the meet, breaking the old school record by over two seconds in the preliminaries, recording a time of 2:17.26. She tallied a 2:17.38 in the final to place eighth overall.
The final event of the championship, the 400 free relay, produced the 10th and final school record performance of the meet, as

Nicole Mason, O'Keefe, and McGowan teamed up to break the old school record of 3:50.0, placing eight in a time of 3:47.31.
The Lady Jaspers' point total of 159 outdistanced Canisius (132) by 27, but fell 23 points shy of Siena for seventh. Both the Marist men's and women's teams took home the team championships.
