Philadelphia, Pa. (September 2, 2005)- Manhattan took the early lead, but the host Piladelphia University came back for the 2-1, double-overtime win this afternoon. Alfred Chambers scored twice for Philadelphia to provide the difference.
The Jaspers took the early lead just 5:50 into the match, as Josh Swett tallied Manhattan's first marker of the season, taking a pass from newcomer Bryan Knights to take a 1-0 lead.
Philadelphia knotted the score at 1-1 at the 20:14 mark, when Chambers took a feed from Matt Tompkins to even the score.
After regulation time ended with the two teams even at 1-1, and an additional overtime period, Chambers came through with the game-winner at the 103:11 mark, with Luca Zucal being credited with the assist on the game-winner.
Dash Parsons tallied nine saves for the Jaspers, while Charles Custer made three saves for Philadelphia.
Adam Kiley, Tommy Lenhardt, and John Dellipriscoli each tallied two shots to pace the Manhattan offense.
The Jaspers get back in action on Tuesday, September 6, when Manhattan travels to Brooklyn, N.Y. to take on the Long Island Blackbirds, with kickoff slated for 5:00 p.m.
