Riverdale, N.Y. (September 11, 2005)--For the second straight day, Manhattan Men's Soccer held their opponent scoreless into the second half, but the Jaspers dropped a 1-0 decision to host Monmouth University on the final day of the SoccerPost.com Classic in West Long Branch, N.J.
Monmouth's Tom Gray broke a scoreless tie in the 55th minute when he put one past Jasper keeper
Collin Leaver. Leaver made three saves on the day, while his counterpart in the other net made none. In all, Monmouth outshot Manhattan 9-7 on the afternoon. Sophomore
Javier Escobedo was responsible for two of the Jaspers' shots bumping up his season total to nine.
Manhattan Soccer continues the 2005 season next weekend as they head north to New England for two matches. On September 16, the Jaspers battle Central Connecticut State in New Britain, Conn. The opponent on September 18 will be the University of Maine as Manhattan travels to Orone, Maine.
