Lawrenceville, NJ (May 8, 2005)- The men's track & field team won their eighth consecutive MAAC Outdoor Track & Field title today, while the women's team won their seventh title in eight years.
The men finished the meet with 221 points, just 20 points ahead of second place Rider University. Iona College finished in third place with 89 points, followed by Marist College (58) and Saint Peter's College (46).
The women finished the meet with 257 points, narrowly defeating second place Rider (249) by eight points. Marist College finished in third place with 109 points, followed by Iona College (75), Loyola College (53) and Saint Peter's College (27).
Freshman Milan Jotanovic shared most outstanding male athlete for field event honors with Rider's Doug Beck. Jotanovic shattered the meet record in the shot put with his distance of 18.84 meters, eclipsing the old mark of 16.34 set in 1998 by Manhattan's Christer Hagberg.
The most outstanding female athlete for track events award was shared by freshman Jasmine Rogers and Rider's Carla Wynter. Rogers had record breaking performances in both the women's 100 meter hurdles and 100 meter's dash. In the 100 meter hurdles, Rodgers recorded a time of 14.54 beating the mark of 14.80 set by Manhattan's Stefani Allen in 2001. She also won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.20, to tie the mark also set by Manhattan's Allen in 2001.

Dan Mecca was selected coach of the year for both the men's and women's teams.
Two more Lady Jaspers captured MAAC Crowns today. Junior Jenna Daly pole vaulted to first place after her vault of 3.20m. After her second place finish in the Long Jump yesterday, sophomore Tiina Magi captured first place in the Triple Jump with her leap of 11.98m. The 4x100m Relay team also captured first place after finishing the relay in 49.61.
Five athletes on the men's squad captured first place in their events. Sophomore
Joseph Cruz took the 110m Hurdles title after finishing in 14.93 seconds. In the High Jump, sophomore Christano Johnson vertically jumped 1.99m to capture the High Jump title. Senior
Nils Pettersson finished first in the Pole Vault with a vault of 4.40m. Lastly, freshman Dexter Jules leaped 14.52m finishing in front of Johnson who leaped 14.45m.
Qualifying Jaspers compete again on Thursday, May 12 at the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Princeton, NJ.
