Princeton, NJ (April 10, 2005)- The men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University this weekend. Juniors Anders Constantin and Todd Raymond qualified for the IC4A Championships. Constantin qualified in the Hammer after his third place throw of 60.02m and Todd Raymond qualified in the 3000m Steeplechase finishing in a time of 9:13.82 finishing fourth.
On the women's side, sophomore Tiina Magi placed best for the Lady J's capturing first place in the Triple Jump leaping 11.78m. Junior Jenna Daly finished second with her Pole Vault of 3.50m. Freshman Caitlyn Kjolhede captured third place in the High Jump after a vertical jump of 1.60m. Magi also competed in the High Jump finishing sixth (1.60m). Placing third in the Shot Put and Hammer Throw was junior Marina Liander. She threw the shot 13.22m and the hammer 50.62m.
Freshman Jasmine Rogers captured second place in the 110m Hurdles earning a time of 14.65 seconds. Rogers also competed in the 100m Dash finishing in 12th place (12.77). Freshman Erin Gregorek finished the 400m Dash in 1:01.39 for 11th place and junior Jessica Jansson placed 12th running the 400m Hurdles in 1:07.37.
Four men earned second place finishes. Junior Tyler Raymond captured second place in the 1500m with a final time of 3:55.00. Tyler Raymond also competed in the 800m placing sixth (1:54.04). In the 110m Hurdles, sophomore Joseph Cruz placed seventh finishing with a time of 15.31 seconds.
Freshman Dexter Jules was the second Jasper to capture second place. Jules leaped 14.30m in the Triple Jump. Teammate sophomore Andrew Pellet finished fourth with his leap of 14.01m. Capturing second place in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.15m was freshman Milan Jotanovic. Constantin took ninth place in the Shot (14.65m) and freshman Paul Peulich finished 10th (14.62m). The final Jasper to earn second place was junior Zoran Loncar. Loncar threw the hammer 61.31m. Finishing just behind him in third place was Constantin (60.02m). Peulich finished in fifth place after throwing the hammer 57.35m.
Sophomore Nick Newman captured fourth place in the Long Jump after his leap of 7.02m. Jules finished eighth (6.73m) and Pellet placed ninth (6.67m) in the Long Jump. In the High Jump freshman Chris Sole took ninth place after his vertical leap of 1.90m. Senior Nils Petterson tied for 10th place in the Pole Vault with his vault of 4.10m.
The Jaspers compete again on Friday, April 15 at the Metropolitan Championships at St. John's in Queens, NY.
