Boston, MA (March 7, 2005)- The men's track & field team placed third at the IC4A Championships at the Boston Armory this weekend. Manhattan finished with 52 points just four points away from second place finisher George Mason University. Rutgers captured the championship title earning 74.33 points.
Sophomore Christano Johnson jumped 2.12m capturing first place in the High Jump. His jump was just .05m away from breaking the Boston Armory record. Johnson also finished fourth in the Triple Jump with a leap of 14.81m. Sophomore Dexter Jules placed seventh in the Triple Jump with his jump of 14.41m. In the Long Jump
Nick Newman took tenth place after his leap of 6.79m. Freshman Milan Jotanovic captured third place in the Shot Put after his NCAA Provisional qualifying mark of 18.45m.
Senior
Matt Reilly and junior
Tyler Raymond ran in the 1000m final on day two. Raymond finished third with a time of 2:24.61. His time was just .29 seconds behind first place finisher Mike Didio of St. Joseph University. Reilly placed eighth with his final time of 2:26.38.
The men's 4x800m relay also competed in the finals on the second day of the championships finishing in eighth place with a time of 7:43.28. Team members were Reilly, Raymond, junior
Joshua Conklin and sophomore Mike Foley.
Nils Pettersson stayed in seventh place after the final day of the Heptathlon. Pettersson finished with 4, 909 points.
Competing on the second day of the ECAC Championships were junior Marina Liander and sophomore Tiina Magi. Magi leaped 11.90m in the Triple Jump finishing sixth at her first ECAC Championship as a Lady Jasper. Liander finished 13th in the Weight Throw after her toss of 16.38m.
The NCAA Championships are Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 in Fayetteville, AR. Jaspers with an NCAA "B" mark find out tonight, Monday, March 7 if they will be traveling to compete in Arkansas.
