Boston, MA (March 5, 2005)- The men's track & field team completed the first day of the IC4A Championships held at Boston University. The Jaspers are currently in the lead with 19 points. Liberty and Georgetown University are tied for second place with 13 points.
Senior
Matt Reilly and junior
Tyler Raymond qualified for the 1000m finals today. Raymond finished second with a time of 2:25.07 just .08 seconds behind first place finisher Patrick Morasse from Umass Lowell. Reilly captured sixth place finishing in 2:26.85. Raymond and Reilly compete again tomorrow at 12:50 p.m.
The men's 4x800m Relay team also qualified for the finals tomorrow. The men placed fifth out of 23 teams with a time of 7:34.36.
Junior
Michael Freeman captured second place earning eight points for Manhattan in the Weight Throw with his toss of 20.20m. Placing third in the Weight Throw with a throw of 19.60m was junior
Zoran Loncar. Both Freeman and Loncar's throws were NCAA provisional marks. Junior
Anders Constantin finished fourth with his throw of 18.95m. In the Long Jump, sophomore
Nick Newman leaped to tenth place with his leap of 6.79m.
Senior
Nils Pettersson is currently in seventh place in the Heptathlon after four events. Sophomore
Margus Must is presently in eleventh place after earning 2, 661 points today.
On the women's side, freshman Caitlyn Kjolhede placed ninth high jumping 1.70m. Senior Rachel McGee captured 14th place in the 1000m completing the race in 2:55.95. In the 60m Hurdles, freshman Jasmine Rogers placed 23rd finishing in 9.13 seconds.
More Jaspers compete tomorrow, Sunday, March 6 starting at 10 a.m. at the Boston Armory.
