WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS TO FAIRFIELD, 111.5-68.5

Riverdale, NY (February 4, 2005)- The women's swimming team dropped a 111.5-68.5 decision tonight to MAAC foe Fairfield at Riverdale Country School. However, the Manhattan 400 medley relay team of Nicole Mason, Courtney Arduini, Sarah Szotak and Maura McGowan set a new school record of 4:21.97, breaking the old mark by seven seconds.

In their penultimate meet before the 2005 MAAC Championships, the Lady Jaspers had several solid individual performances in addition to the relay record. Szotak swam the 100 fly in a time of 1:05.96, and Arduini swam the 100 backstroke in 1:06.78.

Manhattan (8-5, 1-3 MAAC) will return to the pool on Saturday, February 12 in the final meet of the regular season. The meet will be a double dual meet with St. Peter's and St. Joseph's, in which Manhattan will look to achieve three straight 10-win seasons, having reached double-digit victories in 2002-03 and 2003-04. First race is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
