Riverdale, NY (February 28, 2005)- The Manhattan Jaspers competed at the NYU Collegiate Invitational held at the Amory in New York, NY this past weekend. Freshman Dexter Jules was the top finisher for Manhattan capturing first place in the Triple Jump after his leap of 14.46m. The women's top finisher was Jenna Daly. Daly Pole Vaulted to third place with her vault of 3.60m.
Sophomore Chris Sole captured second place in the High Jump after his vertical leap of 2.01m. Finishing right behind him was sophomore Christano Johnson with his jump of 2.01m and sophomore Andrew Pellet placing seventh jumping 1.96m. Besides Jules sophomore Nick Newman also competed in the Triple Jump. Newman placed seventh triple jumping 13.49m. Newman placed better in the Long Jump finishing third with a leap of 6.98m. Pellet took fifth place (6.98m) and Jules finished sixth (6.95m). In the men's Shot Put, freshman Paul Peulich captured fifth place with a throw of 15.11m and freshman Rich Reuter placed seventh after his toss of 14.23m.
On the women's side, freshman Erin Gregorek took seventh place in the 500m finishing the race in 1:21.13. In the 800m, junior Marissa Olivieri captured eighth place running the race in 2:20.89. Freshman Eryka Perreault finished ninth in the 1000m after finishing in 3:09.11.
Qualifiers compete next weekend Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6 at the IC4A and ECAC Championships at 10 a.m. in Boston, MA at the Boston Armory.
