WOMEN'S SWIMMING SETS SEVERAL PERSONAL BESTS ON SECOND DAY OF MAAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Baltimore, MD (February 19, 2005)- Junior co-captain Heather Kennedy swam the 1000 freestyle in 11:59.75, becoming just the second Manhattan swimmer to do so in under 12 minutes, highlighting an impressive second day of competition at the MAAC Championships in which 26 Manhattan swimmers recorded either season or personal bests.

Manhattan's team of Courtney Arduini, Maura McGowan, Sarah Szotak and Nicole Mason swam the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:57.64, breaking the school record by more than two seconds.

After two days of competition, Manhattan has set four school records, and has had 26 of its 32 swimmers set season or personal bests. The team will return to competition today in what will be the final day of the 2005 MAAC Championships.
