Riverdale, N.Y. (November 1, 2005)- Manhattan extended its unbeaten streak to four games with a 0-0, double-overtime draw against Siena in the Jaspers final home game of the season at Gaelic Park this afternoon. Both teams had quality scoring opportunities in the second overtime, but neither side could find the back of the net as Manhattan improves to 1-4-3 in MAAC play, while the Saints improve to 1-4-2 in MAAC play.

In the second overtime, Manhattan, playing a man down after a Jasper player was sent off after receiving a red card at the 52:37 mark, pressured the Siena net, and got two shots off from inside the box, the first, by Javier Escobedo, being blocked by a Saint back, and the second, by Tommy Lenhardt, being cleared off the goal line by the Saints' Alejandro Vazquez.

With the Jaspers sending extra attackers into the offensive zone trying to pick up three crucial conference points, Siena was able to counter with numbers, and looked to have a clear look at the net late in the second overtime, but Manhattan keeper David Mires made the point blank save diving to his right to preserve his second shutout in the last three games.

The two teams played even during regulation time, though Manhattan had two good scoring opportunities. The first came with 7:33 left in the second half, as a Josh Swett shot from in close was tipped aside by Siena goalkeeper Patrick Henry. Three minutes later, Adam Kiley sent in a long ball that scraped the top of the crossbar on its way out of bounds.

The Jaspers held slight edges in shots (20-19) and corners (6-4), but neither team could solve the opposition's keeper.

Mires tallied 10 saves in net, while Henry stopped seven shots for Siena.

The Jaspers' four match unbeaten streak (1-0-3) is the program's longest since the 1999 team posted a five match unbeaten streak (3-0-2).

Manhattan concludes the regular season by traveling to Buffalo, N.Y. for two MAAC matches, taking on Niagara on Friday, November 4 at 3:00 p.m. before taking on Canisius on Sunday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. The Jaspers must win both matches and receive help in order to keep their MAAC playoff hopes alive.
