Newark, N.J. (November 19, 2005)- In a dual meet at NJIT with Hunter, Manhattan improved its record to 7-2, defeating NJIT, 45-43, and Hunter, 51-41, this afternoon at NJIT. Junior
Nicole Mason and freshman
Megan O'Keefe each won multiple events to pace the Lady Jaspers.
Mason kicked off the meet, as she anchored the 200 Medley Relay team, which also featured
Sarah Szotak,
Courtney Arduini, and
Maura McGowan, to a first place finish in a time of 2:03.57. Mason also touched first in the 200 Individual Medley in a time of 2:29.49.
O'Keefe, who has bettered a Manhattan all-time record in each of her meets so far during her rookie season, eclipsed her own mark in the 100 Free, placing first in a time of 56.41. She also finished first in the 50 Free in a time of 26.47.
The duo joined up as part of the 200 Free Relay team, along with Szotak and McGowan, to put up the second fastest time in Manhattan history, placing first with a time of 1:47.07, easily outdistancing the competition.
The Lady Jaspers return to action Saturday, December 3, traveling to Patchogue, NY to take on St. Joseph's and Old Westbury. The meet is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
