LONCAR WINS METROPOLITAN CHAMPIONSHIP WEIGHT THROW TITLE

Riverdale, NY (January 29, 2005)- Junior Zoran Loncar captured the 2005 Metropolitan Weight Throw Championship Title with his throw of 19.79m at Draddy Gymnasium today. His throw was .46m further then second place finisher junior Michael Freeman.

Placing third for the Jaspers was junior Anders Constantin who threw 17.96m. Falling just behind Constantin was sophomore Paul Peulich. Peulich threw 17.20m to finish fourth for Manhattan. The last Jasper to compete in today's Weight Throw competition was freshman Rich Reuter. After his throw of 14.68m he captured sixth place.

After the first day of the heptathlon senior Nils Petterson is currently in fourth place finishing with 2, 771 points. Freshman Margus Must finished the day with 1, 204 points. The heptathlon will continue tomorrow.

Junior Marina Liander captured third place in the Weight Throw for the Lady Jaspers with a toss of 16.45m. Three women competed in the Pentathlon this afternoon. Senior Stephanie Morris finished third place tallying 3, 111 points. Placing fourth place was freshman Erin Gregorek. Gregorek totaled 2, 839 points. Junior Jessica Jansson ended the day with 2, 107 points finishing sixth in today's competition.

More Jasper qualifiers will compete tomorrow at the Armory in New York, NY the Metropolitan two-day Championship continues.
