Scott Burton shot a 75 to earn medalist honors and help lead the Jaspers to a team championship in the Manhattan College Invitational, held the par 73, 6597 yard Cherry Creek Golf Links. Manhattan's team score of 315 outdistanced St. Peter's (353) and St. Joseph's-NY (356) for the team title.
After getting out of the gate a little slowly in his first collegiate round, Burton settled down to play one-under golf over the last 16 holes to bring home medalist honors for the Jaspers.
Tim Hand carded a round of 76,
Corey Barringer put up a 79, and
Danny Sirico tallied a round of 85 to place second, fourth, and sixth, respectively to round of the scoring four for Manhattan. Freshman
Chris Vieau placed ninth with a one round score of 88.
Mike Goll (97) and
Mike Judge (100) also competed for Manhattan.
Manhattan returns to action on Tuesday, September 21, when the Jaspers take on St. Peter's at Rock Spring Golf Course in West Orange, NJ. The match is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
