FREEMAN AND CONSTANTIN EARN NCAA "B" MARKS AT PRINCETON NEW YEAR'S INVITATIONAL

Princeton, NJ (December 6, 2004)- Juniors Michael Freeman and Anders Constantin earned NCAA qualifying marks in the Weight Throw at the Princeton New Year's Invitational held yesterday at Jadwin Gymnasium on Princeton's campus. This mark places them in the B Mark in the NCAA marking, which means at the end of the season they have a chance of competing at the NCAA Championships depending on how many athletes make it into the A marking.

Freeman placed second in the meet with his throw of 19.70m, while Constantin finished right behind him with his toss of 19.12m. This is the second year in a row that Freeman has earned a "B" mark in the Weight. Freshman Paul Peulich (18.84m) and junior Zoran Loncar (18.15m) qualified for the IC4A Championships for the second time this season in the Weight Throw. Constantin also finished fourth in the Shot Put with his toss of 15.77m qualifying for the IC4A. Earning an IC4A mark in the Triple Jump was sophomore Andrew Pellet after his personal best leap of 14.56m. Pellet also earned a qualifying mark for the Metropolitan Championships in the Long Jump after his leap of 13.45m.

Junior Marina Liander finished first place in the Weight Throw qualifying for the ECAC Championships with her toss of 17.12m. Capturing an ECAC mark in the Pole Vault was Jenna Daly. Her Vault of 3.66m broke the school record, and her personal record, by .06m.

In the Triple Jump, sophomore Tiina Magi leaped a Metropolitan Championship qualifying mark of 11.66m after qualifying for the IC4A Championships earlier in the week at the Manhattan Multi and Throws Invitational (12/1/04) with a toss of 11.79m. Also qualifying for the MET's in field events on the women's side was Liander after her Shot Put mark of 13.25m. Running qualifiers were seniors Rachel McGee (Mile, 5:16.78), 3000m Champion senior Julie Lamiquiz after her run of 10:35.43 and freshman Eryka Perreault (3000m, 10:57.71).

Men's MET qualifiers were juniors Todd Raymond, Tyler Raymond, sophomore Nick Newman, freshman Juan Caceres, Mike Foley and Chris Sole. Todd Raymond captured second place in the 3000m finishing in a time of 8:44.64, while brother Tyler Raymond finished in fourth place crossing the finish line in a time of 8:49.94. Fifth and sixth place finishers were Caceres (8:51.13) and Foley (8:57.77). Sole finished seventh in the High Jump after his qualifying vertical jump of 1.93m. Newman leaped 7.00m finishing in third place.

The teams compete again on Friday, December 10 at the Fordham Invitational held at the Armory and Draddy Gymnasium starting at 2pm.
