MEN'S 4X800M RELAY QUALIFIED FOR IC4A CHAMPIONSHIPS AT FORDHAM'S CHRISTMAS INVITATIONAL

Bronx, NY (December 10, 2004)- The men and women's track and field teams competed at the Christmas Invitational today hosted by Fordham University at the Vincent T. Lombardi Center Fieldhouse in Bronx, NY. The men's 4x800m Relay qualified for the IC4A Championships after placing first place with a time of 7:50.6. Members of the team include senior Matt Reilly, juniors Todd Raymond, Tyler Raymond and freshman Michael Foley.

Jenna Daly took first place again tonight with a personal and school record in the Pole Vault vaulting 3.66m qualifying for the ECAC Championships for the third straight meet this year. Jessica Jansson captured second place with a vault of 2.73m earning a MET's qualifying mark. Marina Liander had a great finish tonight as well finishing in first place with a Shot Put throw of 13.27m qualifying for the Metropolitan Championships. Ida-Maria Holmgren also qualified for the MET's in the Weight Throw after her toss of 14.44m.

Freshman Jasmine Rogers earned her first, first place finish in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.4 qualifying herself for the MET's. Also qualifying for the MET's in the 60m Hurdles is Jansson (9.7) and Kathleen Malara (9.9). Rogers also finished second in the 60m race finishing in 7.7 seconds just .1 second behind first place finisher Kerriann Stewart from St. John's University. The time qualified her for the Metropolitan Championship. Teammate Amy Colantuono also qualified for the MET's after she finished in a time of 7.9.

The women's 4x800m relay captured first place finishing in 9:49.0, 6.2 seconds before second place finisher Fordham. Senior Rachel McGee, Julie Lamiquiz, junior Marissa Olivieri, and freshman Eryka Perrault were all members of the relay team.

In men's Shot Put, freshman Richard Reuter captured a first place finish throwing the shot 14.41m. His throw was his personal record and it qualified him for the MET's. Also, qualifying for the MET's in the 60m Hurdles is senior Nils Pettersson, sophomore Joseph Cruz and freshman Jonathon Cerutti. In the 60m, freshman Richard Wolfe finished fifth with a time of 7.0 qualifying for the MET's.

The Jaspers compete again on Thursday, January 6 at the Ram 10-Way Invitational hosted by Fordham University. Throwing events will be held at Draddy Gymnasium on Thursday and the rest of the field and running events will be held on Friday, January 7 at the Armory in New York, NY.
