Garden City, NY (October 2, 2004)- Manhattan came back to tie the score twice, but could not the lead, falling in two overtimes to Adelphi this afternoon. Josh Swett tallied both Manhattan goals.

Rob Philippou gave Adelphi a 1-0 advantage by heading the ball past Manhattan goalkeeper Collin Leaver.

The Jaspers responded as Swett collected an Adelphi turnover in the defensive box and beat Panther goalie Rich Skoblicki for his first collegiate goal to knot the game at one.

Just under five minutes later Ron Forman put back a rebound, giving Adelphi a 2-1 edge at the half.

The second half was back and forth until Swett scored his second goal of the contest. Javier Escobedo sent the ball into Adelphi's box where Swett was able to touch it into the Panther goal, tying the contest at two.

Just 36 seconds into the second overtime an Adelphi player sent the ball into the Jasper box on the ground. The ball deflected off of a Manhattan defender and into the goal, giving Adelphi a 3-2 overtime victory.

Skoblicki collected five saves, while Leaver came up with six stops for Manhattan.

Manhattan gets back to action on Friday, October 8, when the Jaspers open up MAAC play at St. Peter's in a game slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
