Brooklyn, NY (October 12, 2004)- Cristina Pintilie pounded 13 kills over 19 errorless attacks for Long Island, which pulled out a 3-0 win (30-19, 30-22, 30-21) over visiting Manhattan tonight at Schwartz Center.
Maggie Pfeifer had a team-high nine kills, while
Megan O'Dorisio led the defensive effort with nine digs.
Pintilie had a solid all-around match, with a .684 hitting percentage, seven digs, a block solo and a block assist. She helped the Blackbirds (18-5) own a decisive 54-26 edge in kills, along with a .364 team hitting percentage.
LIU closed out the match with a .433 hitting percentage in game three, thanks to 18 kills and five errors. The Lady Jaspers (4-16) were held to nine kills and a .147 hitting percentage in what would be the final game.
Manhattan will return to the court on Saturday, October 16th, when they will square off against St. Peter's in a rematch of the 2003 MAAC Championship match, in which the Lady Jaspers were victorious in three games. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Draddy Gymnasium.
