Rick Ruggles joined the Manhattan men's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach in the spring of 2009.  A 2007 graduate of St. John's, Ruggles previously served as the defensive coordinator at Northern Valley Old Tappan High School, where he helped the team improve from 2-11 in 2007 to 5-8 in 2008.

Ruggles played midfield at St. John's and was named an ECAC Academic All-Star following his senior season.  He joined the Red Storm after two seasons at Nassau County Community College.  An offensive midfielder, Ruggles helped the team reach the NJCAA semifinals in both the 2004 and 2005 seasons.

A native of Fair Lawn, N.J., Ruggles was a two-year team captain at Fair Lawn High School.  He resides in Hoboken, N.J.
