Former Manhattan standout James Amandola is in his third year as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Manhattan Men's Lacrosse program.

Amandola works with the goalkeepers and the face-off unit.

A 2002 graduate at Manhattan, he returns to Riverdale after previously serving as the Head Coach at Tappan Zee High School and is the Director/Founder of Tappan Zee Youth Lacrosse.

A standout during his time at Manhattan, Amandola led the Jaspers to their lone MAAC Championship in 2002 while also winning MVP honors. Additionally, he was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, selected to the North/South Game, received "The Wall" award for best goalie performance in a season (24 saves against Georgetown in the NCAA tournament) and had the best save percentage in the nation (67%). 

For his achievements on the field, Amandola was inducted into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012.

Amandola earned his master's degree in Special Education and is a teacher in the South Orangetown Central School District.
